Founder Spotlight
Lori Schaibly, M.A. Owner and Educational Director
Lori Schaibly retired from the Michigan public school system after 26 years of teaching. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Central Michigan University and her Master of Arts in Special Education from Michigan State University. Lori has taught in elementary, middle, and high schools in both general and special education. Therefore, she has extensive knowledge of the education system and experience working with children who need extra help to learn. Prior to starting Rise and Shine Tutoring, she worked independently as a tutor for several years. Lori knows the importance of being involved in the community and is a former member of the Foundation for Haslett Public Schools.
Lindsey Thomas, M.A. Educational Consultant
Lindsey Thomas taught in the Michigan public school system for seven years before transitioning into corporate training and development and adult curriculum design. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and Teaching from Western Michigan University and her Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from Marygrove College.
Dedicated to Student Success
Lindsey has taught English in middle and high school and has coached educators at both levels. She developed, maintained, and applied Section 504 Plans and Individualized Education Plans (IEP) accommodations for multiple students during that time. She strived to communicate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to meet and exceed each student’s personal learning goals. From her teaching experiences and her own children, Lindsey understands the uniqueness of each student and the desire to see students succeed.
Leadership and Operations Expertise
Prior to joining Rise and Shine Tutoring, Lindsey was a director for a large franchised moving company where she managed large-scale assignments, including curriculum development, scholarship programs, and logistics projects. In addition to her contributions to Rise and Shine Tutoring, she designs technical content and training materials for the prosthetics field and manages the company’s online learning management system. Lindsey works with Lori on building client relationships, networking in the community, and marketing.
